| This Tutorial is a good method of applying a fancy outline
to text. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 1.) Let's begin by creating a new file. Go to File
> New. Make it 260 X 100 pixels on a white background. |
| |
| 2.) Select the Text tool in the tool palette. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 3.) Type something large to fill the space. Something
bold. (I used the color #FF3300). |
| |
|
|
| |
| 4.) Hold Ctrl key on the keyboard and in
the Layers palette, click on the text layer to create a selection
around your text. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 5.) Now, go to Select > Modify >
Expand. (A dialog box will appear). Expand by 2 pixels. Hit
OK. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 6.) In the Layers palette, click on the
background layer and click on the Create a New Layer button.
(a new layer will be created under your text). |
|
|
| |
| 7.) Select a new color. (I used #990000). Now press
Alt + Delete to fill the selection. |
| |
|
|
| |
| 8.) Repeat step 6. Now repeat step 5,
this time expand to 1 pixel. |
| |
| 9.) Select a new color. (I used #FFFFFF). Now press
Alt + Delete to fill the selection. Also, Ctrl +
D to deselect. Let's go ahead here and change the background
color now. Once again, click on the background layer, then go to Edit
> Fill. 100% opacity, hit OK. (I used the color
#660000). |
| |
|
|
| |
| 10.) Click the next layer up, and go to Layer
> Layer Styles > Outer Glow. Set settings
as below: |
| |
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
|
*Your finished text should now look like image
at top of this page.
|
| |
Bonus Tip:
Let's add a "contour" for a new effect. Go to Layer
> Layer Styles > Outer Glow. In the Quality
dialog box, click the down arrow next to contour view to access
the Contour palette. Click selected contour below and hit
OK.
