Flashy Text
In this Tutorial, I will show you how to create some custom flashy text.

1.) Open Photoshop 6.0 and create a new file. Go to New > File. Create it 250 X 100 pixels, 72 pixels/inch on a white background. Hit OK.

2.) Select black for the foreground color in the Tool palette. Now select the Text tool and type something large and bold to fill the space. (I used 80 pixels for size.)

3.) Next, go to Layer > Layer Style > Color Overlay. (Layer Style palette will appear.) Click on the color to bring up the Color Picker palette. Enter #FF33FF at the bottom and hit OK. The overlay settings should now match the view below:

A look at the text will also reveal the change.

4.) While in the Layer Style palette, notice the column to the left. It allows for quick access to the other various styles available, Click on Drop Shadow and follow settings below:

The text should now have a nice soft shadow.

5.) Next, click on Bevel and Emboss and follow settings below:

6.) Still in column on the left, click on Contour and follow settings below:

7.) Last step now, click on Inner Shadow and click on the color to activate the Color Picker once again. This time enter #990099. Hit OK, then continue following settings below:

The text is now finished. You can exit by hitting the OK button, or continue on to the Bonus Tip.

Bonus Tip: On the right side you may have noticed an image of a button that now looks like this:

Click on the New Style... button and it will open a dialog box to save your new effect! Name it as you wish and hit OK. The button will load into the Styles palette, ready to use for another day. Now hit OK to exit Layer Style palette.
Now, if the Styles palette is not visible, go to Window > Show Styles. You will find it loaded as the last button in the palette.
To Use: Simply type some new text and hit the new button. (All the new effects will be applied instantly!)
To change color: Apply effects, then in the Layers palette, double-click on Color Overlay and click color to change.

Below is an example with thin text and a color change. Have Fun.
